Watched the Formula 1 race (no spoilers for those who haven't watched it yet). Read some books on Group B Rallying (so epic). Made my bad and took a nice Sunday nap. How was your weekend Jalops?

Spent it studying for my Chinese Literature test (none of what I'm trying to memorise has appeared to stick). Oh, and I wound up with this spectacular cricked neck...

drank alot of beer, had my kiddos on Sunday morning so I couldn't make it to NJ for the Oppo meetup, so I watched football and drank more beer. Made a whole lot of food though too. Hungarian Goulash Sat night, and some bangin burgers and hand cut fries Friday. And beer

Bought stuff at Tractor Supply and O'Reilly, didn't get to put all of it to use. Cleaned the inside of the rear fenders on the Ranchero so I can prime them, and used a needle gun to remove 50 year old undercoating from the wheel wells on all four corners. I cut the firewall of said project to permit the larger engine and welded new toe boards in - weld-thru primer works really well, I'm happy to report.

What was the name of the book on Group B? I'd be pretty into that.

I picked up my winter wheels for the WRX that has yet to arrive and spent Saturday sealing and waxing them and then turned Iracing laps until my Lady Friend came over. Made a pretty excellent cast iron chicken and fall roots bake with homemade gravy for dinner #humblekitchenbrag. Pretty solid and fairly Jalop weekend if I do say so.

I drove 1500 miles, most of it in the rain. That's a cool bed, but you really shouldn't sleep next to a window.

What's wrong with sleeping next to a window?

Watched F1, went karting, ate, slept. Probably some other stuff but those were the best parts.

My weekend was also pretty car-centric. I got new tires, alignment, and an oil change for my '04 Miata. I should have replaced them months ago. The old ones were so lousy I thought there was something loose in the front suspension. With the new tires on it felt great, and it feels even better now that I reduced the pressure from the maximum allowable pressure as stamped on the sidewall to the suggested pressure from the owner's manual (actually I run them a couple PSI high, but not 16 PSI high like they came from the shop). Why do they always do that?

Also my '99 Miata has been down for three or four weeks because I noticed antifreeze was leaking after I parked it and I didn't have the time to replace the radiator, so I drove the other car instead. When I looked under the hood last month I noticed the radiator cap was all rusty so I replaced it for $7. This weekend I went to jump start it and run it for a while and to my surprise the battery still had enough juice to turn it over. Then after driving it around for a half-hour I saw that it didn't leak anti-freeze when I turned it off, so maybe instead of the radiator being defective it was only the cap. I hope so, since I replaced that radiator only 2-1/2 years ago. It's not good to leave a car undriven so long, so next weekend I'm going to jack it up and change the oil, then I'm driving it to the beach and burning up all the stale gas in the tank.
